God’s Masterpiece in Christ
Ephesians 2 New Living Translation (NLT)
Made Alive with Christ
2 Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. 2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world.[a] He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. 3 All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. 7 So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.
8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

4-5 But God was merciful! We were dead because of our sins, but God loved us so much that he made us alive with Christ, and God’s wonderful kindness is what saves you. 6 God raised us from death to life with Christ Jesus, and he has given us a place beside Christ in heaven. 7 God did this so that in the future world he could show how truly good and kind he is to us because of what Christ Jesus has done. 8 You were saved by faith in God, who treats us much better than we deserve.[a] This is God’s gift to you, and not anything you have done on your own. 9 It isn’t something you have earned, so there is nothing you can brag about. 10 God planned for us to do good things and to live as he has always wanted us to live. That’s why he sent Christ to make us what we are.
Dead to God cannot hear His voice to obey . Alive is able hear His voice and obey
Verse 4 - A Richly Merciful God , loved us so much …. Didn't leave us in our dead condition
- God loved me
- God gave us life - made me alive , made me undead so I can now hear
- Dead people cannot hear but living do hear . We hear and obey coz we are Alive
- God gave us life and changed my status raised me up with the Messiah the Anointing of the Anointed
- The status is Alive and living with THE anointing that rested on and is in Jesus
- God has seated me with Jesus , I have the same status in the heavenly kingdom
- People of the same status sit together
Verse 10 - We are God’s masterpiece - He is working on Me and created me anew .
- 2 Corinthians 5:17 New Living Translation (NLT)-17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
Verse10 - so we can do the good things
- Philippians 4:13 New Living Translation (NLT)-13 For I can do everything through Christ,[a] who gives me strength.
Verse10 - He planned for us long ago
- A PLAN is a plan till it is not executed , the execution of God’s plan is with you and in you .
- This a construction plan to build us into His temple
- Jer 29:11-New Living Translation (NLT)-11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
